Recreational opportunities abound in this bustling community. Golf, youth sports, soccer, basketball, football, swimming, gymnastics, equestrian, hunting, boating, fishing, tennis, aviation and numerous others are all offered.  

Sporting Events - Championship High School Football, Basketball, Soccer, and yes, even auto racing for enthusiasts can be seen locally. The thrill and excitement of major college sports programs from The University of Louisville Cardinals and The University of Kentucky Wildcats, and both are less than an hour away. The Kentucky Derby and Churchill Downs are favorites for those beautiful spring, summer and fall days. Minor league baseball and Ice Hockey offer loads of fun just minutes away.  If professional sports are your cup of tea, you’ll find major league baseball and NFL football within a couple of hours drive.

Airports and Transportation - Louisville International Airport is located approximate 40 minutes away for all your travel needs. Samuels field located on the edge of Bardstown is home to numerous aviation hobbyist as well as a charter jet service.  Major interstates (I- 65, Bluegrass Parkway and others) mean you can get where you need to be when you need to be there.  

Arts & Cultural Events - Whether it Opera, Ballet, The Theater, Symphony Orchestras or other performing arts, you don’t have to travel far to find top quality productions. Bardstown has it’s own community theater and musical events including a renowned Folk Festival. The Stephen Foster Drama - a premier outdoor drama showcases talent from around the country each summer.  An outdoor concert series including headliners such as Alison Krauss, The Dixie Chicks, Delbert McClinton and many others will fill your summer nights with the sounds of music.  

Major Cities - Roadways - Louisville is only a little over 1/2 hour away. Nashville, Cincinnati and Indianapolis are approximately 2 hours driving time.
